Sun, sea and the Vanilla Slice

During my last trip to Melbourne, I was luckily enough to visit to this bay-side town- Sorrento. This beautiful town is about 1 and half hour drive from the city and is a perfect place for those who look for a quick retreat. Although is just with a few row of shops, but the activities are good enough to fill your weekend. You can join the tour and sail out to watch dolphins, walk about the town to enjoy some good food and wine, pack for picnic from the local store or even take the Queenscliff - Sorrento Car and Passenger Ferry head to Great Ocean Road via the drive free way.

Quiet town, with a lot of nice cars!

We walked into this place by chance and it turn out to be one great discovery. Just Fine Food - Home of Sorrento's Famous Vanilla Slice.

We choose to sit inside the cafe as was drizzling outside, this place is really small, I guess can only sit about 10 or 12 adults. Of course, if the weather allow, al fresco definitely is a better choice. Wide variety of food - pie, pasta, lasagna, toasties, cakes, home made chocolate to answer all your need.

We ordered some coffee and Vanilla Slice. It is so delicious and one is never enough but two might bring me few step nearer to obesity. Vanilla slice is like a Napoleon here, it filled with loads of vanilla cream between puff pastry and the top is glazed with icing powder. Every spoon full of the cream make me wanting for more and is not as sweet as it look actually.

I cannot find any vanilla slice in Malaysia and am already planning for my next visit. If you are heading to Melbourne, remember to drop by - 23 Ocean Rd, Sorrento. Tell me if you love it as much as I do.
